When I first came to the program, I wasn't too clear about all this God business. I thought it meant lots of things that it did not. It wasn't about me becoming instantly and completely religious. It was more about me becoming aware that there was in fact a power greater than me. I began by listening to the longtimers talk about how “their” god had done for them what they could not do for themselves. I started to pay attention to things that were going on around me, in my day to day life, events that ordinarily I would have chalked up to coincidences. I see now, many years later that God does work through other people and that coincidence is just how God protects his anonymity.
